Compared to the alternatives

Why pay for PayWelly?

A standard PayWelly engagement replaces a contract template service, a W-9 PDF, a Venmo transfer, and a year-end 1099 prep fee — for one price, paid once, only when you actually hire.

PayWelly per-engagement pricing compared to Venmo plus a DIY contract and to Deel.

Deel is the right choice when you’re paying 50+ contractors across many countries. PayWelly is built for the US business hiring a handful of 1099 contractors and needing the contract, the escrow, and the 1099 done correctly — without a monthly subscription.

Multi-location

Running PayWelly across many locations?

Franchise groups, regional operators, and multi-site businesses get a corporate contract with consolidated billing, role-based access for regional + local managers, and a unified 1099 export across every location. Pricing depends on volume and locations — talk to sales for a quote.

FAQ

Pricing questions, answered.

Is there a subscription?

No. PayWelly has no monthly fee, no seat fee, and no minimum spend. You only pay $19.99 + 15% commission per engagement — and only at the moment you accept a contractor.

When am I charged?

At hire time. Posting a contract is free. The fee is collected the moment you accept a contractor’s application — the same moment the engagement is funded into Stripe escrow. Nothing is charged when the contract is first published.

What does the 15% commission cover?

The 15% covers Stripe Connect Express processing fees, escrow custody until completion, automated W-9 collection at contractor onboarding, the 1099-NEC filed at year-end, in-app messaging, and dispute handling. Stripe processing fees on the underlying charge are absorbed by PayWelly — they are not a separate line item.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Funds in escrow are fully refundable before the engagement start time, less the platform fee in cases where work has already begun. Once the engagement is in progress, our cancellation policy applies and any disputed funds remain in escrow until our team reviews the case.

What about overtime?

When a contractor clocks out past their scheduled hours, the extra time is held pending your approval. We never auto-charge overtime — you see an approval prompt with the exact amount before any additional funds move.

Any hidden fees?

No. $19.99 + 15% per engagement is the entire business-side cost. PayWelly absorbs the standard Stripe processing fee on your charge. The only pass-through is Stripe’s international-card surcharge on cards issued outside the United States, which Stripe applies directly. Standard ACH payouts to contractors (1–3 business days) are free; same-day to an external debit card is a 3% contractor-side fee.
